# Team accounts

> Share hosted MTA API keys, usage, and billing with your team.

Use a personal account for your own API keys and plan, or switch to a team to manage shared keys and usage.

## Personal and team ownership

Keys created while a team is active belong to that organization, not to an individual member. All team keys share the team's plan and account-wide limits. Personal keys and usage remain separate.

## Create a team and invite teammates

1. Open the organization switcher in the dashboard sidebar and select **Create organization**.
2. Select the team in the switcher.
3. Open **Manage team** from the user menu.
4. In the organization profile, open **Members** and choose **Invite**.

## Roles and permissions

| Role | Keys | Usage | Billing and members |

| Admin | Create and revoke team keys | View team-wide usage | Manage the plan, billing, and members |
| Member | View team keys | View team-wide usage | View the plan |

Members who need a key can ask a team admin to create one. The server enforces key and billing permissions as well as hiding unavailable dashboard actions.

## Team plans and account switching

Teams need their own Team or Business plan before team API keys can be created; personal Indie or Pro plans do not cover a team. Use the dashboard's **Billing** tab to manage the active account's plan.

Switching between a personal account and an organization reloads the keys, usage, and billing data for that account.

## MCP account tools

MCP account tools such as `create_api_key`, `list_api_keys`, `revoke_api_key`, and `get_usage` operate on your personal account only. They do not switch to or manage the currently selected organization. See [MCP server](https://mtaapi.dev/docs/ai/mcp.md) for setup instructions.
